  Has any Witness prophesies ever came true ?

  surely some of the prophesies came true, my old mom tells me that they all have bless her heart she is 84 and its all she knows.

  but i guess if you line up all of them the ones that did not far out number the ones that did.

  what do you say to someone who says god directed the witness's in bible prophesies?

  My dad is pretty well read and he says none have come true. The last one I remember was the change in generation which appeared in that Awake. The article went on to say that the end was certainly to come before the end of the century. Oops

  Have you ever been compelled to talk someone into STAYING a JW?

  my jw father in law was recently stumbled over something rather silly.

  this has happened before and he seems to think when he has a personal problem with someone that he'll show em by just not going to meetings and assuming that jws can't be right if people like those he has issues with are part of it.

  normally this would be great, but when this happened in the past, he was just a grumpy work-a-holic and his wife was miserable.

  one congregation in the 70's allowed only white shirts to be worn on the platform.

  if an out of town speaker didn't know the "rule", it was ok. the brothers kept a variety of white shirts in different sizes in case that happened.

  The dress codes were just stupid. My dad was told that since he owned a hand gun he couldn't be used at the hall. Well he competes in shooting competitions... hello??????

  .....your boyfriend proposed to you while on vacation?.

  the reason i ask this is because a couple i know was away in the tropics, and he popped the question.

  and yet, since they've been back (over 8 months) they've been mum on all things wedding.

  Well I went to Mexico with an old boyfriend that I would not have married. If he had asked me to marry him I think I would have freaked but I know I wouldn't have said yes just because of the vacation. I can see how some might feel pushed into it.

  I would hope that the vast majority of guys have enough sense to know the answer is going to be yes ahead of time. It's not difficult to figure out. Aren't you supposed to be discussing how life would be if you two ended up together?

  i ask because i'm taking my 19 y/o son to a concert he's doing in sydney, australia.. i'm not going to the concert, i'll be spending time with friends shopping and dining out.

  but i was just wondering what my son can expect from a mm concert.

  it seems that politics are once more taking over the board.. when things are discussed properly it's not a problem but alas, it seems some can't help but start throwing insults and labels around.

  i keep reading about "you left wing communist loving liberals" and "right wing facists" and really, it's getting very tiresome.. can i suggest we tone it down please.

  think before you post and don't be surprised if you include insults in your post that it will just be deleted.. also, unless you are interested in having a discussion and hearing opposing points of view without getting all pissy about it then don't post !
